MG J2
Year - 1933
Colour - Black
Interior - Black trim and black carpets
This MG J2 was an ex Chichester police car, delivered new to the police force with considerable extras.
It was one of a trio that went to West Sussex Police, and a reference in Andrea Greens book 'MG'S ON PATROL', shows a photo of the car with it's two companions lined up alongside their drivers ready for action.
It came onto the market in 2012 as a car in bits seeking a restoration. During the restoration by the previous owner he wanted to originally build the J2 as a J4 replica (hence the J4 style body tub), which presents a far more sportier appearance.
As far as we know the engine is uprated with a Phoenix crankshaft and rods, fully restored cylinder head, bigger brakes, radiator, instruments and much much more.
Copies of paperwork dating back from 1933 to 1935 showing a record of all work carried out for the Constabulary including an engine change (19/9/1934) and other repairs under guarantee.
There is a large folder of invoices from over the years, with no expense spared which is clearly shown throughout with the quality of work.
